The Rowan Consultants

 Sarah Hazell
Sarah is a new member of the Mobile Consultant team who enjoys teaching crafts, knitting and crochet. In addition to the full range of Rowan workshops, Sarah has a variety of subjects to offer including ‘Time for Tea’ which looks at gifts and accessories for the home, ‘Exploring Colour’, ‘Luxury and Lace’ and a very successful series of crochet workshops from beginner, to intermediate and advanced.
                                                        
Emma King
Emma is a published author and is based in Derby. Emma has worked for Rowan for many years and teaches the full range of Rowan workshops. Emma is the author of ‘25 Bags to Knit’, ‘Fun and Funky Knitting’ and ‘25 More bags to Knit’. She teaches workshops that specifically support her books and are project based as well as ‘Knitting with Beads and Sequins’ and ‘Festive Knitting’.
                                                            
Erica Pask
Erica is a mobile Consultant based in Northamptonshire. Erica has been a DC for many years, and now works solely as a mobile consultant. She is available to teach all the normal range of workshops, as well as basic, intermediate and advanced crochet.
                                        
Sharon Tyler
Sharon is based in a store two days a week and on her other days she is happy to teach all subjects. However, her speciality is crochet and is one of the few DC’s happy to teach basic, inter-mediate and advanced techniques in crochet.

This project based workshop teaches the basics of crochet including how to hold hook and yarn, basic stitches, how to change colour and how to work an edging. Participants are given ideas for future projects to help develop their new skills.
 

Learn to Knit 1

An introduction for absolute beginners or a refresher for rusty returnees, covering: casting on, knit and purl stitches, simple increasing and decreasing, casting off, tension, basic pattern reading and commonly used terms.

Moving on from the basics, this course aims to give you more skills and greater confidence, covering: alternative cast-ons, tension, moss stitch and rib, shaping, making a button hole, picking up and knitting, basic garment assembly, intermediate pattern reading

This course is about getting a really polished finish which does justice to the weeks spent knitting the garment. It will cover: starting out right – your tension and using the correct cast-on for the project; shaping techniques; professional button holes and picked-up edges, bands, collars etc; short-row shaping and three-needle cast-off for shoulder seams; blocking and pressing; putting in sleeves; sewing up using mattress and back stitch

Always searching for that knitting pattern, quite simple but never there when you want it? Then this workshop is for you, we will show you how to make a simple design from an existing garment and have the confidence to make alterations to existing designs.
